What is the MicroQuick Particle Scanner from RJL Micro Analytic?
MicroQuick is a high end component cleanliness scanning device that determines particles size and distribution on a controlled membrane. Delivering a cleanliness audit trail, that is VDA 19 and ISO – 16232 compliant.

Within just a few minutes the MicroQuick Particle Scanner performs the particle scan, giving particle sizing, size distribution, glossy and non-glossy distribution along with fibre and particle breakdown reports via the dedicated Micro Reporting software.

The MicroQuick Particle Scanner is fast – Membrane scans take two minutes with the report being available within ten minutes.


How does it work?

Using the prepared membrane a high resolution scan is produced by the MicroQuick particle scanner and stored on the hard drive.  Prior to each scan the device automatically calibrates the white field. Regardless of the age and luminesce of the LEDs the reproducible contrast and brightness fields are guaranteed.

Step 2 – MicroQuick particle Scanner SizingMicroQuick-membrane-to-digi

The information gathered by the membrane scan is turned into binary data by means of a grey value threshold. Black and white imagery is produced and particles are detected, size automatically and measured.

Each particle is measured for length, width, elongated length, area and perimeter. Other measurements include Feret maximum diameter, Feret minimum diameter, max inscribed circle diameter, mean inscribed circle diameter, perpendicular diameter

Step 3 – Micro Reporting

A report is generated using the included software, MicroReporter. The reporter uses Microsoft Excel®. An audit report is generated which includes trending analysis, a gallery of the ten largest particles,

• Numbers projection – on surface, volume, test lot
• Result histogram – particle numbers in ISO/VDA size classes or user-defined
• Results rating – automatic comparison with required levels
• Signature – digital signature, for each user

Process Control – Auditing with MicroStandard

MicroQuick control membrane

Each MicroQuick Particle Scanner package comes with its own audit membrane. Simply tell the system you are running an audit check, use the audit membrane and run the program. The audit membrane is a controlled membrane which is known to the MicroReporter software.

The MicroQuick particle scanner system recalibrates itself automatically to the audit membrane ensuring accurate readings every time. Such is the stability of the system auditing need only be carried out a few times each year and takes just a few minutes to run.

MicroTrap combined with the MicroQuick particle scanner and its reporting software MicroReporter allows you the customer to monitor and identify potential sources of contamination coming from your own working environment.  Simply place MicroTraps tagged with location, date and time around the workplace. Visually inspect each one over a period of hours, days, even weeks, before removing them. As traps become dirty seal it and mark it with a date and time stamp.

Run each MicroTrap through the MicroQuick analysis tool and note the “sedimentary” result on a floor plan of the test area. The larger the sedimentary number the higher the contamination level in this area.  Mapping these results against controlled areas such as advanced parts cleaning, CMM inspection, food processing or medical applications to identify potential areas of concern.
