Nuneaton, UK. May 2008: Kumi Solutions Ltd. – the sole UK supplier of PERO, German-built solvent and aqueous degreasing machines - estimates that the cumulative total Carbon emissions prevented by just 6 of its UK customers using PERO equipment is set to reach an impressive 500,000Kg within the next few weeks.

Since the change in solvent emissions regulations in October 2007, Kumi Solutions has enjoyed record sales of PERO machines to UK based manufactures, including the likes of Rolls Royce, Tenable Screw, Cold Formed Products and Portsmouth based Harwin, makers of electrical inter connectors. PERO machines used by these customers – plus two others - will have prevented an amazing ½ million kilos of Carbon being emitted into the atmosphere by mid-June, according to Kumi Solutions managing director, Simon Graham.

“Collectively, these PERO users are racking up carbon savings close to 500Kg. a day,” says Mr. Graham. “That’s impressive enough,” he continues, “but by the time they have done so, they will also have saved a total of almost £700,000 in solvent costs.”

Based on existing installations plus sales forecasts for the next two years, Kumi Solutions estimates that UK PERO users will prevent 1 million Kilograms of Carbon emissions to the year 2010.

Developed in 1999 and brought to market in 2001 Pero’s, SER compliant machines represent a significant step forward in cleaning technology as the machines are “universal” – that is, they operate on almost any type of solvent from chlorinated hydrocarbons such as trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene through to methylene chloride, modified alcohols such as Dowclene 1601 and any standard hydrocarbons.

The V-Series machines are hermetically sealed to provide “near zero” emissions and so comply with the UK’s Solvent Emissions Directive. The machines are run under partial vacuum conditions, thus helping to lower the boiling point of the solvent. This has many advantages such improved energy efficiency, reduced solvent consumption and the ability to clean more delicate materials such thermoplastics and coated parts.

Pero also offers a complete range of aqueous solutions including conventional tunnel systems, single chamber spray systems and rotational basket units with spray/immersion functionality.
