Fassler Gear Production
Fassler, Leaders in Gear Honing, Hard Broaching & Worm Wheel Dressing
Producing gears to high standards is vital for the efficiency, longevity and quality of power transmission systems. Kumi Solutions supplies Fassler machines, processes and experience, which improve the quality of the finished product, creating value added benefits, technical and competitive advantages and improved margins.
Fassler HMX-400 Gear Honing
The Fassler gear honing process has been developed by Fassler over the last 30 years into what has become widely accepted as the most effective final operation in gear manufacturing. Honing gears the Fassler way delivers many desirable qualities with virtually no adverse affects when compared to gear grinding.
Fassler Gear Honing can easily offer the end user :
- Increased transmission efficiencies through gear quality and reduced drag
- No need to shot peen because honing gives 2-2.5 times more compressive residual stresses than shot peening.
- Reduced transmission noise and heat build up.
- Reduce face width and weight through ideal design and manufacture.
- Hone tighter helix angles than possible with worm wheel grinding.
- Tighter helix angles = greater face width = the opportunity to reduce gear overall gear width.
- Cumulative pitch error correction.
- Favourable surface finishes for oil retention.
Fassler HS-100-A Hard Broaching
Broaching splines and internal bores has been a common application in many manufacturing processes. However, until the Fassler hard broaching process was introduced it had been the job of large horizontal machines or even vertical machines sunk into the floor. Both methods required great expense and very long expensive tooling. Now the Fassler process delivers precision spline correction in a small footprint surface mounted machine which utilises short diamond coated broaches.
The Fassler HS-100-A offers users:
- A very small foot print machine.
- Low power consumption and running costs.
- No requirement for a pit.
- Short diamond coated and lapped tooling.
- Removal of heat distortions from internal profiles.
- Excellent surface finish, profile and accuracy.
- Re-establishes the original center lines.
- In excess of 200m of honed profile before the tooling requires re-coating.
Fassler Gear Grinding – DSA Units
The origins of Fassler go back to the gear grinding process, where Mr. Fassler, through first hand experience recognised the difficulties in achieving accurate worm wheel profiles using the conventional diamond tip tooling. The DSA dressing
device was born and gear grinding took a huge step forward in terms of production speed and reduced setup times.
- Fässler guarantee of quality with 2 micron or better run out.
- The precise profiling of grinding worms flank and root.
- Tip dressing using the optional APV unit or radius roll.
- New units or fixed price overhaul of existing systems.
- DSA units are available with a range of optional extras to suit your application.
